MARSHALL, Mich., Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- BorgWarner Cooling Systems has established a wholly owned subsidiary in Chennai, India to support the needs of local customers in this emerging market.  Demanding European engine emission legislation and rising fuel prices are forcing Indian vehicle manufacturers to incorporate new technologies.  BorgWarner is helping global manufacturers increase engine efficiency by engineering more defined lightweight fan drives and fans.  Cooling Systems\' advanced solutions consist mainly of Viscous fan drives, which control fan speed in direct proportion to engine cooling needs, and high efficiency polymer fans.

Initial strategy includes a cooperation agreement with Motherson Automotive Technologies & Engineering Ltd.  Chennai for the production of polymer cooling fans.  This makes BorgWarner Cooling Systems the first producer of engine cooling systems to have a manufacturing presence in India. The pact combines BorgWarner\'s strength in product leadership with the operational leadership of Motherson, explains Alan Garner, Managing Director of Asia for BorgWarner Cooling Systems.

BorgWarner Cooling Systems, a BorgWarner operating group, is a global provider of engine cooling solutions.  The group manufactures and markets air sensing and coolant sensing fan drives that can be mechanically or electronically controlled and also manufactures and markets both polymer and metal fan blades and air control shutters for engine cooling systems.

Chicago-based BorgWarner (NYSE: BWA) is a product leader in highly engineered components and systems for vehicle powertrain applications worldwide.  The company operates manufacturing and technical facilities in

46 locations in 13 countries.  Customers include Ford, DaimlerChrysler, General Motors, Toyota, Caterpillar, Navistar International and VW Group.  The Internet address for BorgWarner is  .  For additional information, contact BorgWarner Corporate Communications at (312) 322-8500 or BorgWarner Cooling Systems Marketing at (317) 328-3268.
