WARRENVILLE, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
eStar™, the all-electric truck by Navistar, is a sponsor and
participant in today's Earth Day New York CO2 E Drive. The
event is helping raise climate change awareness and will feature a
parade of environmentally-friendly vehicles painting a virtual "E" on
the streets of New York. Using GPS technology, the "E" route progress
will be tracked on billboards throughout Times Square. Following the
drive, eStar and a select number of other vehicles will participate in a
green vehicle runway presentation in Times Square.
"For decades, Navistar has demonstrated a commitment to technologies
that benefit the environment and our customers, which is why eStar was
created," said Mark Aubry, vice president sales and marketing electric
vehicles, Navistar. "This event is an opportunity to show why eStar is
such an exciting product with potential to revolutionize the commercial
truck industry and transform thinking when it comes to clean, efficient
transportation."
Capable of carrying payloads up to two tons, the eStar medium-duty truck
offers features such as a low center of gravity (the battery is between
the frame rails, not mounted on top), walk-through cab, and a
cassette-type battery, which allows for easy maintenance and is the
perfect design for around-the-clock operation. With zero tailpipe
emissions, each eStar truck can potentially reduce greenhouse gas
emissions by as much as 10 tons annually. The eStar is available at the
Truck King International dealership in New York City.

About eStar™
The eStar transitioned from concept to reality in August 2009, when
President Barack Obama visited Navistar's manufacturing plant
in Indiana to announce $39.2 million in American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act funds from the Transportation Electrification
Initiative administered by the U.S. Department of Energy. It is the
first medium-duty commercial vehicle to receive U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) certification as a clean fuel fleet vehicle as
well as California Air Resources Board (CARB) certification as a
zero-emissions vehicle.
